Waiting on Wednesday - Illuminate (Gilded Wings #1) by Aimee Agresti

The cool button is from the awesome girls over at  Bewitched Bookworms! Do say hello!

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Illuminate (Gilded Wings #1) by Aimee Agresti:

Haven Terra is a brainy, shy high school outcast. But everything begins to change when she turns sixteen. Along with her best friend Dante and their quiet and brilliant classmate Lance, she is awarded a prestigious internship in the big city— Chicago—and is sent to live and work at a swanky and stylish hotel under the watchful eyes of a group of gorgeous and shockingly young-looking strangers: powerful and alluring hotel owner Aurelia Brown; her second-in-command, the dashing Lucian Grove; and their stunning but aloof staff of glamazons called The Outfit.
As Haven begins falling for Lucian, she discovers that these beautiful people are not quite what they seem. With the help of a mysterious book, she uncovers a network of secret passageways from the hotel’s jazz-age past that leads her to the heart of the evil agenda of Aurelia and company: they’re in the business of buying souls. Will they succeed in wooing Haven to join them in their recruitment efforts, or will she be able to thwart this devilish set’s plans to take the souls of her classmates on prom night at the hotel?

Teaser Tuesday #3 - 4th October 2011

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  •  Grab your current read
  •  Open to a random page
  •  Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  •  Be careful not to include spoilers! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

I'm currently reading:

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkins:

The trees, sidewalk, and the flashing lights spun around me as I felt it: the first unmistakable snarl in the delicate fabric of my sanity.

Book Trailer: Half Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout

One more day gone by and my book still isn't here. I've probably never been as worried about any other undelivered book as I am for this - been counting down the days since it was first shipped!

If any of you know me personally, then you've probably been heard me ranting endlessly about this book since I first heard about it. I can't help it. Firstly, I love Greek Mythology. And the minute I read the synopsis of the book - even before the few dozen glowing reviews and all the teasers and excerpts I've dug up from various blogs - I knew I wanted it. And then, in my epic quest to learn more about this book, I unearthed all these trailers. And wow, what awesome trailers they are! The only thing that makes me wary is the whole "forbidden love" thing all over again.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Sheila over at Book Journey

The past week has been very, very good week for me in terms of reading. I'm still stuck at the two-books-a-week block, despite my exams having ended, but it was self-imposed this time around. I doubt I'd have been very happy with any book after the last one I read.

Books I Read Last Week:

The Witchlanders by Lena Coakley:
An alternate universe and absolutely no romance. The perfect book for me. I loved it!

Read my review here.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor:
Hands-down the best book I've read in all of 2011. Nope, I'm not kidding. People, its an awesome, beautifully written book. Its like nothing you would have ever read before. Not your average angel-and-devil story, this one. I gave up on reading anything else after this last week, knowing nothing would satisfy my expectations after this one or live up to it.

Read my huge rambling review here.

Up Next On My Reading List:

Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout:
I'm still waiting on this one's arrival. According to TBD's shipping data it should have arrived by now, but looks like fate's determined to keep this one away from me. I probably shouldn't complain since its been shipped before release but it would have made an excellent birthday present. *sigh*

The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan:
Yes, I know I should probably not be reading tween literature at the same time as YA, but I do love anything Greek Mythology. Yet another scheduled birthday gift that never arrived.
